⺮ (zhú) is Kangxi radical no. 118, “bamboo”. It also appears as 竹 (zhú). In this form it is written with 6 strokes.
⺮ (zhú) on top is bamboo: brushes, baskets, chopsticks - and, because records were kept on bamboo strips, words like 等 (děng), 第 (dì) and 答 (dá).
The characters range from 6 to 20 strokes. 5 of them already appear in HSK 3.0 levels 1–2, and 5 have a full word page of their own.
Good ones to start with: 第 (dì) (ordinal prefix: 1st, 2nd…), 笔 (bǐ) pen / pencil / stroke, 笑 (xiào) laugh / smile, 等 (děng) wait / etc..
