忄 (xīn) is Kangxi radical no. 61, “heart”. It also appears as 心 (xīn), ⺗ (xīn). In this form it is written with 3 strokes.
The heart was seen as the seat of thought, so 心 (xīn) - and 忄 (xīn) on the left - mark feelings, wishes and thinking.
The characters range from 4 to 16 strokes. 12 of them already appear in HSK 3.0 levels 1–2, and 11 have a full word page of their own.
Good ones to start with: 忙 (máng) busy, 您 (nín) you (polite), 想 (xiǎng) want / think / miss, 快 (kuài) fast / quick.
