十 (shí) is Kangxi radical no. 24, “ten”. In this form it is written with 2 strokes.
十 (shí) often only fills a structural slot, but in a few characters it keeps its meaning of completeness or ten.
The characters range from 2 to 12 strokes. 5 of them already appear in HSK 3.0 levels 1–2, and 6 have a full word page of their own.
Good ones to start with: 十 (shí) ten, 千 (qiān) thousand, 半 (bàn) half, 卖 (mài) sell / betray.
